MY name is Maxine.
I suffer from asthma.
My two children suffer from asthma.
My sister died following an asthma attack aged only 13 years.
I have wanted for some time to raise money for Asthma UK but only now am I confident enough to do it. My challenge is to go from sofa to 10K to Half marathon to marathon. I have been accepted into team Asthma UK to run the London Marathon on the April 23, 2017.
My reasons for doing this is to raise money for Asthma UK but also in memory of my sister.
My sister Paula sadly died following an Asthma attack aged 13. As you can imagine this devastated our family and is something that we have never recovered from.
My sister was a ray of sunshine and very determined even on days when she was struggling to catch breath. She would never give in.
I was 12 when she passed away and it took me many years before I could even speak to others about what happened to her. She was not only my sister she was my best friend.
I also suffer from Asthma myself as do two of my children, so this charity is very close to my heart.
My fundraising is well underway with some local businesses donating some very generous prizes for future raffles, sweepstakes. We will also be holding bake sales and guessing the weight of a cake which has already been pledged, but not baked yet. I really appreciate all the support I have got so far.
I am doing this because I never want what happened to Paula to happen needlessly to anyone else. Please take a moment to visit my charity page and perhaps donate.
Thank you so much
