THE General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has appointed Professor Alison Strath to its Board of Assessors.
Professor Strath holds a chair in Community Pharmacy Practice at Robert Gordon University, and also works with the Scottish Government, where she is Principal Pharmaceutical Officer responsible for implementing the community pharmacy aspects of the Government’s strategy, Prescription for Excellence.
Dr Mat Smith and Ahmed Aboo were also appointed to the Board. Dr Smith is a lecturer and MPharm programme director at the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cardiff University. Ahmed Aboo is Lead Pharmacist for Renal, Respiratory and Cardiovascular Medicine at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and he teaches on the MPharm degree at De Montfort University.
Nigel Clarke, Chair of the GPhC, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Alison, Mat and Ahmed to their new roles. The Board of Assessors plays a vital role in providing quality assurance for the registration assessment and I am sure our new members will make a significant contribution.”
The Board of Assessors, which is independent from the General Pharmaceutical Council, overseas the GPhC registration assessment.
