MY name is Reece Samani, I am the founder and CEO behind The Locum App. When I started locuming I was so over whelmed with the number of different groups and agencies, and it was time-consuming having to register on various websites and send over all my documents. I even got business cards printed so I could give these out to local pharmacies.
The Locum App was created to make this experience easier: a single platform which brings a number of advantages over groups and locum agencies who charge high premiums for their service.
I was recently asked about the benefits of having an app rather than using locum groups on WhatsApp or Telegram.
Firstly, the Locum App isn’t meant to cause a divide, the idea is to bring pharmacists and pharmacies together. Having a platform to do this compared to a telegram or WhatsApp groups provides multiple advantages for both.
A review system ensures that pharmacists get the rates they deserve and pharmacy owners can’t blame ‘poor quality’ as a reason for dropping the rates.
A QR code function within the app allows you to quickly add pharmacy and pharmacist connections. This alleviates the need for business cards by asking one simple questions: Do you have The Locum App?
There is an in-app messaging feature allowing you to messaging other users, and we will soon be adding group chats to provide a social aspect, but also an opportunity for pharmacists to ask their peers clinical questions.
The app currently has a locum and branch management system for pharmacies, giving an incentive for multiples and larger pharmacy chains to join the app (in addition to it being a free platform).
Pharmacists have access to a locum’s services and accreditations, enabling locums to benefit with higher pay, based on the services they offer. Having all pharmacists using a single platform would help us stick together against wider economic issues within the profession.
Although it is current in initial release phase, you are more than welcome to download the application (www.thelocumapp.co.uk). We are also working with different healthcare professionals to expose the professional experience of pharmacists to ensure there are jobs posted with higher average rates.
I would be most grateful for any feedback you can provide.
