HARRY McQuillan, Chief Executive Officer at Community Pharmacy Scotland, is to appear in the next series of Great British Bake Off, due to be filmed later this year. Well known throughout Scotland for his world-beating tablet (a traditional Scottish sugar-based confection), Harry also has a large repertoire of additional recipes, including macarons, baklava and Napoleons with which he hopes to wow the new judges.
Harry told Pharmacy in Practice: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to showcase my baking skills. My tablet is legendary and I’ve had to create a small production unit in my garage to fulfil the constant requests for supplies. I think it’s time to take it global and the Bake Off is a really good opportunity.
“Under pressure I’m sure I can deliver quality baked goods that will delight the judges without suffering the indignity of a soggy bottom.”
A member of the CPS team who wished to remain anonymous said: “I think it’s brilliant, he’s so talented. Not only is he a world-class darts player, but the skill and dexterity with which he assembles a Croquembouche is breathtaking. He’s an inspiration. I’m only gutted for him that Mary Berry won’t be there – he really had a soft spot for her.”
Harry’s first cook book Keep taking the tablet is available from Amazon now. There is currently a 3 month waiting list for supplies of tablet.
