SALLY Arnison, pharmacist and director of Barnton Pharmacy and Travel Clinic has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours list for services to healthcare and the community in Edinburgh.
Sally is an independent prescriber and manages caseloads of patients in her local GP practices. She also practices as a clinical pharmacist in her pharmacy at the heart of her community, assessing and triaging minor ailments, discussing complex medication regimens with patients and their carers, administering travel vaccinations in her travel clinic, and using clinical skills to help make appropriate referrals.
Sally told Pharmacy in Practice: “I am totally amazed to receive this honour and have no idea where it has come from.
“I think there are so many community pharmacists in Scotland who inspire me and who are doing great work everyday for their patients.
“We are fortunate to work in a health service which values the role of community pharmacy and hopefully this will inspire others to make the most of the opportunities available.”
Many congratulations Sally! Very well deserved.
