Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) have committed to supporting community pharmacies in Scotland with the implementation of the falsified medicines directive which comes into effect on 9th February 2019.
Over the coming weeks and months, CPS will be communicating with pharmacists and pharmacy contractors across Scotland on how the implementation is progressing and what milestones need to be met.
CPS advise the first step if you haven’t already done so, is to read, “The Way Forward for Community Pharmacy” document on the FMD Source site. This covers the key assumptions about FMD, high level processes for incorporating the required additions to existing dispensing workflow, what IT systems need to deliver and the implications for patient safety.
Further updates will follow in due course. If you have any questions, please email Amanda Rae.
