Encrypted messaging services like WhatsApp, Telegram and others have become very popular in recent years. The ability to form a group and then communicate in real time has led to a rapid proliferation in the use of these messaging services. Like any other workplace, pharmacists use these messaging services.
This dilemma explores some of the issues that may arise as a result of a workplace WhatsApp group being set up. For the purposes of the scenario and to set the context our central character is a pharmacist who works as a community pharmacy manager in a large multiple. The sex of the character is not relevant. Our pharmacist is a male. Our pharmacist has worked in the current branch for five years and has consistently achieved a ‘performing’ rating as part of the annual performance management process.
As ever the idea with our professional pharmacy dilemmas is to read the scenarios and vote in the polls as you go along. Next week we will publish the results to find out what the consensus view is.
We will publish the dilemma results next week.
