What has been your proudest moment so far as a pharmacist?
I have always been very motivated to make a difference as a pharmacist and implement change for the greater good. I have worked diligently to maximise the patient experience on many levels. So, when I was nominated in the top 100 most influential healthcare professionals in Northern Ireland I was very proud. This was an honour and verification from my peers that I have begun to make an impact. I have been the recipient of many awards, but i always say, the reward is in making a difference to people lives and awards are the by-product for doing what I love best. I have been very fortunate to have great people working around me and many inspirational people giving me the direction to allow me to continue to evolve and develop.
What do you enjoy to do outside of work?
I have just taken up running and completed a couch to 5k in 12 weeks. This led me to me completing the 90km winter running challenge.
I also like cycling and playing golf if I get a weekend away from playing chauffeur to my kids. I really enjoy having the opportunity to watch my son play football each week. we have a great fraternity of parents who turn up rain, hail or snow. We even have our own travelling coffee shop.
What’s next for you?
Onwards and upwards. Expansion of south Belfast federation team from April onwards. Advancing my Respiratory Portfolio and continuing to do the basics really well. I consistently try to ensure others do likewise. I would be very interested in becoming part of some of the UK respiratory forums like UK Inhaler Group and the Primary Care Respiratory Society so will approach that over the coming months hopefully.
