Independent pharmacy owners in Scotland are being asked by Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) to vote for their local Community Pharmacy Health Board Committee. These local committees consist of elected members from independent pharmacies and also appointed members on behalf of the Company Chemist Association.
The vote will shortly take place between February 4th to February 25th this year. CPS have provided extensive support and resources to help explain the voting process.
Matt Barclay Director of operations at CPS commented:
“For the first time, the CPS Council has asked us to hold the Elections process online. The team at CPS have been working hard to put the electronic platform in place and ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
“Due to the levels of interest and participation, there will be elections taking place in three Community Pharmacy Health Board (CPHB) areas. We look forward to elections opening for these areas on the 4th February.
“I am encouraged to see our pharmacy owners get involved in the process and I am looking forward to working with the new Council, Health Board Committees and Community Pharmacy Board when they are in place in May 2019.
“With the organisation reforming again, we also restart our recruitment of CPHB Associate Members afresh. These posts enable employee pharmacists to contribute to the work of the committees and gain experience of Community Pharmacy Scotland. It’s a great opportunity to be involved in the pharmaceutical care and policy decisions in your health board area and we would encourage anyone that is interested to apply on our website.”
