The PDA Union and Boots have jointly announced further pay increases for pharmacists at the company.
Following on from the success of our 2019 National Conference, the PDA has now opened bookings for the 2020 conference, which will take place in Birmingham on 28 – 29 March.
The PDA is in talks with GP federations in Northern Ireland to secure an agreement that allows pharmacists to negotiate their terms and conditions and have a stronger voice at work through the pharmacists’ trade union.

The Pharmacist Defence Association (PDA) have issued urgent guidance to all of its members. The move comes in response to a series of critical incidents. The defence team at the PDA has become increasingly concerned about incidents of unsafe practice which have started to emerge as the number of independent prescribers working in GP practices has risen. They have seen a number of serious incidents recently and are currently in the early stages of dealing with cases where patient deaths have been reported.

Diane Leicester-Hallam has announced she is set to leave the Pharmacists’ Defence Association as Director for Member Services and will shortly also leave the pharmacy sector.
Boots UK and the Pharmacists’ Defence Association Union (PDAU) today signed their first voluntary recognition agreement. This means the PDAU will now have collective bargaining rights for negotiation on pay, hours and holiday, as well as consultative meetings on a range of topics, representing PDAU members who are store-based Boots pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacists.
